La sesamoidectomía es un procedimiento común para el cirujano de pie y tobillo. Tradicionalmente, se ha accedido al sesamoideo lateral a través del abordaje dorsolateral o plantar. Aunque estos abordajes acceden de manera confiable al sesamoideo fibular tienen complicaciones asociadas.
